I saw too many people disappointed that their kids did not become what they wanted. They are disappointed their kid did not live the life they planned for them.
My view is that some people see their kids as a reflection of themselves. They want them to succeed where they failed.
That’s why I have no plan for you other than to give you the tools to live your best life and decide what is best for yourself. In order to navigate the long journey that life is, you need to be smart, have a good moral compass and some common sense1.
The rest generally follows.
I want to help you grow a character.
Build a life.
Be somebody.
There is a lot of things I will do to help you bootstrap your life.
But there are a lot of things you will need to figure out yourself: friendships, relationships, work, life or love.
As you grow, you will build experience:
You will fail to learn how to succeed.
You will hit rock bottom to appreciate the good times.
You will fall in love. You will fall out of love.
In other words: you will live.
There is my plan for you: give you a good education, strong values and watch you surprise me every day with what you will come up with.
I can’t wait to see what you will do - I am certain it will exceed the most ambitious dreams I could have imagined for you.
In case your wonder, I believe that both your Mom and me have those.
